Clarkson University's Integrated Math and Physics for Entry
To Undergraduate STEM Program (IMPETUS) celebrated another
successful year with its annual roller coaster competition.
Fifty seventh- through 12th-graders from eight area schools
tested table-model roller coasters, which they have been designing
and building since September. The model roller coasters ran
marbles on their tracks and were judged by thrills, speed,
etc.
Students from Canton, Ogdensburg, Madrid-Waddington, Lisbon,
Brasher Falls, Colton, Norwood-Norfolk, and Herman-Dekalb
schools participated.
IMPETUS, a program of the St. Lawrence County STEM Partnership,
is designed for students who have an interest in math, science
and technology.
