Members Compete at National Conference

Attendees This past
weekend members of the Mercy College Science and Technology
Entry Program (STEP) traveled to our state's capital for the
2016 STEP Conference.
Over the three days students participated in educational
workshops, competed in scientific research poster competitions
and presented their robot for the Disaster Simulation Robotics
Exhibition.
Second Place winner in Biological/Life Sciences (11th
Grade)
Third Place winner in the Social Sciences (12th Grade)
Robotics Team
Some highlights include:
- Brianna Cauthen took home the second place trophy in
the 11th grade Biological/Life Sciences poster competition
with her abstract titled "The Mechanism of Neuroprotection
by Glyx-13 after Oxygen Glucose Deprivation."
- Caroline Borrego took home the third place trophy in
the 12th Grade Social Science poster competition with her
abstract titled "Adolescents and Gender Associated
Occupational Stereotypes."
- Our robotics team received high praise for their ink
hole simulation by conference participants during the Robotic
Exhibition.
