SUNY New Paltz invites
students to STEP to success
May 7 2016, SUNY New Paltz, New
Paltz, NY
There was an open house for the SUNY New Paltz Collegiate
Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) on Saturday,
May 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Funded by the New York State Education Department, the Collegiate
Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) was created to
increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically
disadvantaged students who want to pursue majors and careers
in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology,
mathematics, physics, psychology and science or math education.
CSTEP at SUNY New Paltz uses the classroom as a lab for exploration
and innovation and is designed to foster students’ academic
success in preparing for professional licensure or careers
related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics
(STEM).
The open house featured keynote speaker and NASA astronaut
Roger Crouch and offered workshops on math magic, flight simulation,
scrub club, career planning and more.
