Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is a premiere education and exploration science-learning center, and exhibit space. This world-class research institution has prolific scientific discoveries and a rich pool of scientific, engineering and technical talent. Located on Long Island, New York, the Laboratory is in the middle of one of the most prominent science producing areas of the country. The location is also central to a science attentive public, and to communities of underserved populations. The Department of Energy, New York State, the Long Island community, and the nation will benefit by leveraging the resources of Brookhaven National Laboratory to provide a service that creates an appreciation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics within the general public, expands opportunity for those excelling in STEM related areas and provides access to improved STEM resources for underserved communities.

Brookhaven National Laboratory has a rich tradition of fostering invention and discovery in the sciences, and the Portal to Discovery is go-to place for people of all ages who have a thirst for knowledge and adventure to experience the frontiers of science.
